What will you do as a Head of Communications?

A Head of Communications is a senior business role which is ideally suited for someone with corporate and internal communications experience - normally around 10 years - and a proven ability to manage departments and people effectively. This position is demanding and requires the ability to manage partner relationships as well as seeking out new opportunities and building strategic networks, in order to improve existing company communications strategies. You will work alongside Marketing departments, including Head of Marketing and Marketing Coordinators.

What qualities do you need to succeed in this role?

Such a role would suit a candidate with outstanding communication skills, who can present ideas effectively, gain support and effectively implement new proposals whilst turning information into compelling content in a creative way. The desirable candidate would be qualified to degree level in a Communications, Marketing, or Business background and would have garnered superior marketing understanding and already possess an extensive press and local media network. Your daily tasks would vary in a constantly-changing environment, however you would need to be able to prioritise tasks, delegate to a team of communicators and coordinate strategy and workflow through your department with your excellent people management skills.
