Meet Marina, Business Intelligence Manager at Joblift

How long have you worked at Joblift?

I’ve worked at Joblift for 2 years.

What’s your job title and how did you get your job?

I’m working as a Business Intelligence Manager. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics and spent two years experimenting with a lot of different jobs (HR, Sales, Business Development, Event Management… you name it). At Joblift I started working in Business Development but from my first week on I knew that my favourite part of the role involved the analysis of data. I got the chance to join the BI team a year later and since then I’ve been crunching numbers. It’s something that I never planned to do, but I absolutely love it!

What do you like best about working at Joblift?

The fact that I was able to shape my job around my needs and interests, and I’ve always been encouraged to learn and challenge myself.

What did you want to be when you were a child and to what extent does your position at Joblift match this?

As a kid I wanted to be a ‘manager,’ I loved bossing people around. I always knew I wanted to work in business, which is why I attended a business-focused high school. At uni I set my heart on starting a career in HR. But, what I do right now has pretty much nothing to do with what I saw myself doing. One thing I learnt is that you never know what you like until you actually try it out.

If the story of Joblift was made into a movie, which actress would play you and why?

Emma Watson, just because she’s amazing.

What are your top 3 life highlights?

  1. When I managed to find a flat in Berlin – the dream
  2. When I found out that the flat had a bathtub – pure luxury
  3. When I locked myself of said flat and I learnt that my neighbour has top breaking-doors-open skills – no questions asked

If you could only drink one kind of beer for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Smithwick’s! After living in Dublin for a year I’m hooked on red ale.
