Job profile – Credit Manager

Credit Managers typically work in the Finance and Banking industries, and are largely responsible for providing credit analysis and preparing credit recommendations to clients and stakeholders. This is an important role with significant responsibility, and also likely involves supervision of a team of credit controllers to assist in drafting reports. As a Senior Credit Manager you will be primarily responsible for a regional team or sector and managing the members of this sub-team. It is normally expected for you to have a strong academic background in Business, Economics, Finance and related fields with previous industry experience. This role requires a candidate who has outstanding and proven numerical ability and who is analytically minded. You should have previous experience in Accounts and also experience in a managerial role as you will be supervising a team of Credit Analysts as well.

Requirements for being a successful Credit Manager

Normally, Credit Managers will need to have amassed a certain level of knowledge and qualifications in order to exceed client expectations. Employers will look for experience in corporate banking, knowledge of pricing strategies, a strong understanding of your particular firm or bank's standing within their market and their consumer products as well as an awareness of current business, industry and country trends. You will need to have certain soft skills to be able to manage relations with colleagues, agencies, insurance providers and clients and therefore need to be a skilled leader. You need to be a strong communicator to deal with independent clients and company leaders directly and to lead a team effectively. You must possess organisational skills in order to keep financial records and exceptional numerical and analytical skills as well as the ability to work to tight deadlines and perform under pressure.
