Working in quality management requires a very unique set of skills that prospective employers would like to see. Being meticulous when combing over product reports and setting standards and procedures is a vital component to the job, as is monitoring and overseeing production efficiency. These aspects of the job are quite similar to what may be expected from a Supply Chain Manager. But there's a more creative aspect to the job, as well. Finding new ways to streamline production or discover areas of waste that would better utilise the existing infrastructure and means of production all require the ability to see new avenues of improvement.
Requirements for being a successful Quality Manager
A quality manager must always have self-confidence. He must be sure of what he is doing. If this trait is not developed, there would always be a fear of taking risks or making hard decisions when a problem arises. A good professional must have patience with the people and processes he or she is dealing with. If you take the time to communicate with the people involved about the processes and products you are dealing with, this leads to better customer evaluations, which in turn leads to increased productivity of the team. Communication and patience are qualities that go hand in hand.
